GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT BOCAS DEL TORO
What you shouldn't do and what you need for a vacation in Bocas.

If you decide to visit Bocas del Toro, you should consider the following things
- If you want to book boat tours, check with your accommodation which companies or boat guides are responsible. Boats should be equipped with safety vests. Ideally, they should carry a first aid kid. On many dolphin tours, the dolphins are encouraged to jump by circling around the animals. The animals or babies are often injured by the propellers as a result. Responsible boat drivers behave respectfully so as not to disturb or stress the animals
- Avoid disposable plastic bottles. Or if this is not possible, you can get labels from hotel receptions to stick on the bottles. Children or homeless people collect these bottles and take them to be recycled in exchange for rice and other food. This initiative is supported by Plastic Bottle Museo. You can also drop off the bottles yourself here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KeLYzJfFwaAHrHKh8
- Respect the animals above and below the water. Don't touch them and leave them where they are. Starfish, for example, die if they are lifted out of the water. There are also some people who develop allergies when they touch them.
- Only use sunscreen that is coral-friendly. Many synthetic creams

- Only use sunscreen that is coral-friendly. Many synthetic creams are very harmful to corals and algae, even in very small quantities.
- Mosquito repellent is a must. We recommend OFF! PLANT-BASED REPELLENT From SC Johnson but without deed

- Shopping or going to a restaurant in Bocas in just a swimming costume or bikini is also not welcome. The locals are very religious and consider this disrespectful.
- Do not leave any garbage on the beach. No cigarette butts either. As cigarettes are highly toxic, they also contaminate the parts of the sea where they are thrown in. One cigarette butt contaminates 30,000 liters of drinking water.
- Nature is our future.
- Don't give children or the homeless money, give them food.
